Purpose
-
For students to know that
their purpose in this world is to live out Christ's
message of service and stewardship

To be aware of who they
are and what they can contribute to the world

To have an awareness of,
respect for and empathy with others

To be able to reflect on
their experiences and use them as a source of reference
for the future
Curriculum Standards
Student Expectations
-
7th grade Students will
do 1 service project a trimester, with a minimum of 6
hours per project, total of 3 projects a year with teacher
supervision and direction
-
8th grade Students will
do 1 service project the first trimester, and a second
project in the second trimester, with a minimum of 6 hours
per project with teacher supervision and direction.
Categories and Hours of Service
The student must choose a project that is in
the following categories. The organization must be a
Non-Profit. If you are not sure, you must ask the
organization representative.

Hours for the
Presidential Service Awards will be limited as follows:
- 20 hours
Environmental (cleanups, recycling, education)
- 25 hours
Church service (choir, altar serving, CCD)
- 30 hours
School (teacher help, tutoring)
- 35 hours
Camp Jr. Leader Service (boys/girls scouts, VBS)
- 20 hours
Scouts (girl scouts/boy scouts - meetings do not count)
- 40 hours
People service (smile-train, St. Anthony's)
Hours must be
recorded on this
FORM and turned in to the homeroom teacher at the end of
each trimester for approval. Students must be
responsible to turn in the form on the due dates given in
order to receive credit.
Hours are
subject to administrative approval.
