The Dark Hills Divide

The Dark Hills Divide was awesome!

The book I read for my report was The Dark Hills Divide This book was written by Patrick Carmen. It was published in 2005. This book has 247 pages. The first main character in this book is Alexa Daley. She is twelve years old and loves to explore the lodge in Bridewell while she stays there for the summer. The second main character is named Warvold. Warvold is the leader of the city, Bridewell. When Warvold dies everything changes. the last main character is a man named Sebastian. Sebastian is a convict who is living in the city of Bridewell with no identity. he leads all of the other convicts.

Alexa Daley and her father are taking their summer trip to Bridewell where Alexa keeps herself busy by exploring the many different places. One day Warvold dies, so Alexa took a key form him and she found that it was for a tunnel. At the end of the tunnel a little man named Yips met her and when they got to their destination Alexa was able to talk to animals. She met some different animals and they told her about a convict with no identity who they called Sebastian. When Alexa got back to the lodge she found out that some of the animals had betrayed them. When she told her father about everything and they learned that the convicts were on the move. When Alexa read a book she found out who Sebastian was. Alexa caught Sebastian and found out he was a member of the city council name Ganesh. In the end the animals helped save Alexa, but she couldn't talk to the animals again.

I thought the bookThe Dark Hills Divide was a very good book it was a little slow at the beginning, but as it went on it was very exciting. This book was very good because as I got to the middle of it there was a lo of action. For example, when Alexa met Yips there we met a lot of new characters. I would recommend this book for kids around eleven years old. It is sort of an easy read, but you need to be able to get through a book that is slow at the beginning.
