Welcome to my page, Al Capone Does My Shirts!!!

The book i did for my book report was "Al Capone Does My Shirt". The author of this book is Jennifer Choldenko. The date of publication was February 13,2005. There are 215 pages in the book. The three most important characters in the book are Moose Flanagan, Natalie Flanagan, and Piper. Moose Flanagan is a twelve year old kid who moves over to Alcatraz island in 1935 after his father gets a job as a prison guard and electrician. Moose loves playing baseball but does not have anyone to play with when he gets to Alcatraz. Natalie Flanagan, Mooses sister is 16. She has Autism and at the time medical professionals did not know about it. She and her mom hope to get into a special school called Esther P. Marinoff. They do not know if she will get in because of her many disabilities. The last character, Piper is one of Mooses good freinds in Alcatraz. Piper is a kid who gets in trouble a lot. He is a type of kid you would not want to hang out with.

The problem in this book is that Moose does not know if he will make any friends. He loses the baseball and has to go get it with Natalie. Moose tells Natalie to stay but she doesnt and Moose losers her. He looks everwhere but finnaly sees Natalie. She is talking to one of the prisoners. She is constanly repeating numbers. Moose is confused and does not know why . The climax of the story is when Natalie goes out for the school Esther P. Marinoff. Natalie is rejected once again. Moose writes a letter to Al Capone, a dirty gangster. Piper helps moose sneak the letter into a big stack of letters meant for the prisoners. The Resolution of the book is Natalie is finnaly accepted by the special school. Also, Moose finds a note in his pocket and it has scribbled words saying "done".
