The book I read is called The Giver , by; Lois Lowery. It was published in 1993. There are 180 pages in this book. The main characters in this book are Jonas, the elders, the Giver and baby Gabriel. Jonas is a young boy who will be the receiver which is a job. The elders are the one who pick the jobs for the young ones who are twelve. The giver is an elderly man who use to be the receiver. Baby Gabriel is the baby who will help Jonas to realize the truth of his community.
This book is about a community who lives in there own little world in the forest. Which the elderly people pick jobs for the young twelve year olds. Jonas will be picked as the new receiver. Then Jonas will see The Giver who is an elder who will teach him to be a receiver. The Giver will show him in his memory what snow and heat is. Also, Jonas will give baby Gabriel memories secretly. Jonas finds out that they are going to kill baby Gabriel, so he runs away with him. When he runs away Jonas will discover that there is people out there.
This book is very good. I feel that any seventh grader can read it. It is an interesting book and you have to follow carefully with this book.Sometimes it can get confusing, but if you keep reading it all comes together. I like that this boy was different then the others and he started to see things differently. So I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and action.
