The Subtle Knife
Paragraph 1
The title of the book that I read for my book report is The Subtle Knife written by Philip Pullman. It is a sequel to the book The Golden Compass, and has 326 pages in it. The book was published in 1997. The main characters in this story are Lyra Silvertongue, Will Parry, John Parry, and Lord Asriel. Lyra Silvertongue is a head strong young girl who is on a journey to find out about a mysterious thing called Dust. On her journey she runs into a boy named Will Parry. Will Parry is a young boy from our world who was in a search for his father. He later ends up being the barer of the subtle knife. Lord Asriel is a man who is assembling an army for the most epic war ever fought. The war is going to be fought against THE AUTHORITY also know as GOD. John Parry is Will's father and is on Lord Asriel's side. His mission is to tell the barer of the subtle knife what the weapon is actually for.
Paragraph 2
In this story, two young kids named Will Parry and Lyra Silvertongue travel from world to world in an amazing adventure. They were in search for Will's father who was an explorer who disappeared in the arctic 10 years ago. While they are in an unknown world Will becomes the barer of the subtle knife which allows him to travel into different worlds. While this is going on, people begin noticing sudden changes in the world and everything and everyone is confused because Lord Asriel is planning the biggest war in the history against THE AUTHORITY. With the help of witches Will and Lyra try to make their way to Lord Asriel before the MAGESTRIUM does. In the end, Will meets his father and finds out what the barer of the subtle knife's mission is. Then Lyra is taken by the MAGESTRIUM and Will makes his way to kill God with the subtle knife.
Paragraph 3
I believe that The Subtle Knife is an amazing novel. It is full of adventure and wonder and makes you want to keep on reading. Philip Pullman wrote this story with such detail that when you read it, you can actually see the scene in your mind. Especially during the battle you can see every detail in your mind. The Subtle Knife is told with eleventh hour story telling and you can never actually predict what will happen next. I was so surprised when i found out who Will's father actually was and when a witch said that Lyra was Eve, the mother of all. This book is and amazing story and I think that everyone should read it.
