Religion:
- Understanding and living the Nicene Creed.
- Deeper understanding of the Liturgy and Sacraments.
- Living Christian morals and values.
Mathematics:
- Number Sense: Four operations in decimals and
fractions (including mixed numbers and improper
fractions).
- Algebra & Functions: Linear equations, solving for
variable.
- Mathematical Reasoning Strategies: How to approach
problems and concepts in finding solutions.
English:
- Identify and use noun phrases, verb phrases, and
prepositional phrases; use appropriate subject-verb
agreement.
- Use simple compound and compound complex sentences;
correct sentence fragments and run-on sentences.
- Identify parts of speech, as well as the correct tense
usage of each part of speech.
- Use appropriate punctuation including colons,
semi-colons, commas, and quotation marks.
Writing:
- Firming up exposure and practice in utilizing the
writing process and writing traits.
- Three to five paragraph essays (500 to 700 words) in
different genres (autobiography, personal narrative,
journalism, fiction).
- Research Reports: Biographies, science bird report.
- Speaking and Listening Skills: Writing speeches, both
informative and persuasive.
Literature:
- Reading Comprehension: Analyzing text for story line,
characterizations.
- Understanding and Exposure to Genres: Non-fiction,
fiction (historical, realistic), science fiction.
- Book Reports: Summarizing.
Social Studies:
- Investigate archaeological studies of human
development during Paleolithic and Neolithic times.
- Students analyze the geographic, political, economic,
religious, and social structure of Mesopotamia, Ancient
Egypt, Kush, Ancient, Greece, India, China, and Rome.
- Describe the origins and significance of Judaism and
analyze the social structures of the ancient Hebrews.
Science:
- Earth Sciences: Plate tectonic, earthquakes,
volcanoes.
- Energy in Earth: Interactions of living things, and
ecology.
- Understanding the Scientific Method: Though
inventions.
- Shaping Earth's Surface: Topography, erosion, oceans.
Spelling:
- Weekly spelling and vocabulary tests.
- Vocabulary development.
