To use these instructions you will need
your personalized user name, password, and other information
required for Accelerated Reader. See your teacher for
this information.
Finding Books
1. Log
on to
www.arbookfind.com.
If you are asked, click on who you are and then click
Submit.
2. Click
the Advanced Search tab.
3. Fill
in the Interest Level, Book Level (use your individualized
Range your teacher has provided), Language and any other
options you prefer. Or, search for a particular book to see
if it falls in your reading range. Click Go.
4. You
will be given a large list of book choices.
Taking Quizzes
After reading the book you will take an
online comprehension quiz. You will complete quizzes for at
least one book a month.
1. Log
on to
https://hosted149.renlearn.com/280143. (This is Holy
Rosary’s unique site for quiz and test assessments. You may
want to Bookmark it.)
2. Click
Student.
3. Type
in your User Name and Password information (see below) and
click the Log In button.
4. Under
the Accelerated Reader tab click Take a Quiz.
5. Choose
Take a Reading Practice Quiz.
6. Type
in your book information and click Search.
7. Click
on your book title.
8. Answer
the questions and take your quiz! When finished, print out
your report and give it to your Language Arts teacher.
Note: If you did not receive a score of 70% or above for a
Reading Practice quiz you must read another book and take
another quiz. You may, however, choose a book from the
lower end of your range.
Raz-Kids
Holy Rosary's Kindergarten and 1st
grade classes use
www.Raz-Kids.com to read and listen to books online, and
to take quizzes on the books they've read online.
Raz-Kids is an online collection of
interactive leveled books and quizzes designed to guide and
motivate emergent and reluctant readers as well as improve
the skills of fluent readers. The program consists of 85
online books, along with quizzes and worksheets. New books
are added throughout the year. The website also features a
management system for teachers to build rosters, assign
books and review student reading activity.
The professionally developed books
include sound, animation, and interactive features. Students
can read or listen online as key words and phrases are
highlighted. They can then take a comprehension quiz that
gives students immediate feedback. The management system
allows teachers to determine which books are available to
each student and whether the student can read or listen to
the books. It also helps teachers monitor students' reading
progress.
To log on to the website you will need
your child's special login name and password, provided by
your teacher.
